FOR SALE: Our Collection of Ancient Carthaginian Coins struck in North Africa, Sicily, Sardinia and Spain during the First and Second Punic Wars fought by Hannibal. Founded by the Phoenicians, 1st millennia BC, Carthage was utterly destroyed by Rome including most of its literature, art, and material culture. Carthage, today Tunisia, transformed into the strategically important Roman province of Zeugitana. All that survived the Punic Wars was the unflattering and highly biased histories of the victors but, fortunately, the artistry of their beautiful coinage survives into our time.
